Valentines Day - Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue
I picked a rainy Valentines day in Apalachicola to write about fishing but
wanted to get word out about about the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition Release party on Thursday the 16th to our local readers. For those of you not "In The Know", Sports Illustrated sent
models, photographers, stylists and 100's of swimsuits and accessories to
Franklin County last October to include our unspoiled area in their photo shoot
for the 2012 magazine. Chamber President Mark Friedman and Executive Director
Anita Grove were on hand to facilitate (and feed) them but were under the cone
of silence so as to ensure that word wouldn't leak about our inclusion in the
magazine. So go pick up the 2012 Swimsuit issue and tell all your friends!
We have had such a mild January, actually the
entire winter in general, so far that maybe the fish are confused as to where
they are supposed to be but it's been more like March fishing weather. The water
temperature in the Gulf is warmer than normal this time of year. Anglers
have been catching flounder and white trout in the surf and legal Redfish
18"-27" are plentiful and you can now keep 2 per person per day. Usually we
don't even think about Speckled Seatrout until more like mid - February but here
they are and there IS NO CLOSED SEASON THIS YEAR! Specks in Feb!
There are still a few dates open in Key West at this writing. Feb 18, 26 & 27,
March 8, 28 & 29 and April 1-5. We are also booking for Spring Break trips
and have Summer Flats, Bay & Offshore trips available. A word to the wise,
people are already making reservations based on the SI article so make your
plans early.
In the back half of our new office space is a gorgeous 1
bedroom loft apartment called Cypress N Honey. It features a full bath, full
kitchen, 2 flat screen TVs, one queen bed and a futon. Could sleep up to 4. The
courtyard is privately fenced. Park your car and walk to all our area
restaurants and shops and meet your fishing guide right here just outside your
door! You can make reservations here with us - talk to me or Valerie or go to
the VRBO site. www.vrbo.com/392307.
One last thing - I usually mention mention something about our real estate market
here & in the Keys before I close. Joan Kelley advises that " the market has
turned around here in the Keys. Sales are up 14%, Pending closings are up 19%
and the inventory is down 10% Keys wide. The pace has increased dramatically in
the last month. Prices are still down, mortgage rates are still down." In
Apalachicola there are some deals to be found. Several Bank Owned properties
priced reasonably to sell have been recently snapped up. The only thing we don't
have very much of is long term rental properties. http://www.RobinsonRealEstateCompany.com
That's it for now folks!
